Walter Trout Wins British Blues Award Again
Last night in Glasgow -- here I am with Paul Stewart and Nancy Lippold-Ingram. They presented me with the 2 consecutive British Blues Awards that I won in the favorite overseas artist category. I won 3 years in a row . I am now in The British Blues hall of fame. These are the 2 awards I was unable to pick up due to my illness.( I have one at home) . I got to meet a roomful of great Scottish musicians who had played a benefit show for me over a year ago -- in the same venue. After this ceremony I played to the people of Glasgow and was overwhelmed by the love they showed .A beautiful and humbling evening -- Thank you !!!

Walter Trout Returns From The Edge Of Oblivion With 'Battle Scars'
November 14, 2015
Walter Trout has been playing and sometimes living the blues for five decades. The guitarist was with Canned Heat in the early 1980s, shared the stage and recorded with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and sold millions of albums as a solo artist, but drugs and alcohol almost did him in. He was just days away from death last year when he received a liver transplant, an experience he recounts in a song called "Gonna Live Again."
"I'm having a conversation with God on that song," Trout explains. "I list in thie song that I've been a bad person in my life — I've lied, I've cheated, I've done things that I'm not proud of — but I've been given this chance. When I was in the liver ward, there were people dying all around me, but I made it. I survived. So I'm asking, what is my responsibility now?"
Walter Trout has returned from the brink, and played the Royal Albert Hall in London this past June. His new album is called Battle Scars, and he joined NPR's Scott Simon to talk about it; hear their conversation at the audio link. LISTEN NOW
Den amerikanske blues-guitarist var tre dage fra at dø for halvandet år siden, men hans danske kone kom op med en plan
November 16, 2015
(Marie: Here is an awesome article from Ekstra Bladet's Allan Lykke (Denmark). And some pictures of Walter and me in Copenhagen from a few days ago. Yes, we are still in love after all these years)

Walter Trout has proudly become a patron of the British Liver Trust
November 05, 2015
In his continued quest to raise awareness of liver failure, Walter has proudly become a Patron of the British Liver Trust.
Liver disease is currently the third commonest cause of premature death in the UK – more than 12 million are at risk yet there are very few resources compared with other conditions. With more funding into better research and care and by encouraging many more people to become a donor we can save more people’s lives..
“I am delighted that Walter Trout has agreed to support the British Liver Trust and become our Patron.” Said Andrew Langford, Chief Executive of the British Liver Trust. “As Walter knows it is a silent killer and by the time that you have the symptoms it can often be too late. I would urge everyone to take the British Liver Trust's free online Love Your Liver health screener on our website to see if you are at risk. Please also make sure that your loved ones know your wishes regarding organ donation and consider joining Walter in supporting us.”
Talking about his involvement with the trust, Walter opens up; “Liver disease almost cost me my life. The disease progressively drained me of my life force until I was on the verge of death. A miraculous liver transplant allowed me to survive and thrive once again. I owe my life to the research and development in the medical field around treatment of liver diseases. I am happy to work with the British Liver Trust to promote awareness about the silent killer among us. I am thrilled because new treatments are emerging at the moment, and to help raise awareness around this, and to empower people to seek treatment, is something I feel privileged to do.”

Walter Trout New CD Battle Scars - Second Track Preview
Oct 08, 2015
A few words about “Please Take Me Home” by Marie, Walter’s wife:
Walter was so tired of fighting to survive. He couldn’t walk, he couldn’t talk, at times he couldn’t even remember the names of his children. This song is about him wanting to just escape the pain, the humiliation, and the uncertainty. Walter sings about wanting to go “home.” And here it has both a literal and a figurative meaning: he just wanted to escape. It is a song that is especially powerful to me, because it speaks to how much I wanted to give Walter what he wanted: to just rest in my arms. At the same time I knew that if I did, he wouldn’t survive. He needed to stay in that hospital and struggle on. Each day, he had to face his pain and uncertainty – and that was what I needed to help him do.

Walter Trout New CD Battle Scars - Track Preview

A few words about “Tomorrow Seems So Far Away” by Marie, Walter’s wife: Walter spent many months in various hospitals facing the debilitating reality of liver failure. I came up with many attempts to try to help us both endure. One of them was a suggestion that we would talk about the phone call announcing the availability of a new liver as coming “tomorrow,” no matter what, to try and trick our minds into being optimistic. It didn’t always work, but “tomorrow” became a sort of inside message of hope between us as we waited –what seemed endlessly— for that phone call.
Walter Trout's new album 'Battle Scars' will be released on October 23, 2015
Joyful, energized guitar-and-vocal performances frame the dozen original songs that narrate his hard-won, life-or-death struggle waiting for, and ultimately receiving, a life-saving liver transplant.
With bristling energy and lyrics that cut to the core of human hope and willpower, Walter Trout’s new album, Battle Scars, chronicles his horrific battle with liver failure. But the album also captures the international guitar hero playing and singing at the peak of his abilities, infusing even his darkest numbers with creative joy that sweeps like a beacon.
Trout is now moving triumphantly forward in his 50th year as a guitarist. Walter is back again!
