As you know Walter Trout is Danny Bryant’s mentor and often asks Danny up to jam whenever they are on the same bill. Danny asked Walter if he would make a guest appearance on Danny’s new CD.

Danny Bryant’s RedEyeBand CD Days Like This is due to be released in December with the title track, Days Like This having a guest appearance by Walter Trout. It was recorded in Purple Studios, Norwich, UK on 24th October straight after Walter finished his concert at The Waterfront, Norwich.

Danny said the band gathered around in a circle and played the song through. Walter said “that’s a take” so what you hear is it. No overdubs, re-recording or anything. They then recorded the vocals and again it was one take.

The band completed another successful European tour. Walter's voice was better than ever after his vocal chord operation. New bass player Rick Knapp proved he was a great choice to enhance band. Andrew Elt, the tour manager sang backing and lead vocals on several songs during each show bringing a near "Robert Plant" performance to "Mercy".

Walter had over some time developed a growth on his vocal chords. He had surgery on the 23rd of September.

The surgery went well and after more than a week of silence, Walter just got the ok to speak again yesterday, and his voice although still weak, is gaining momentum every hour that passes. He even has an increased vocal range and can hit notes, he has not been able to hit in years.

With a little TLC in the next week or so, his voice should be in fine form for the kick off of the UK/European tour beginning Oct. 8th!

I am also happy to report that the biopsy results came back, and told us that there was no cancer in the growth that had been removed from Walter's vocal chords.

Thanks for the messages of support!

A thank you from Dean Newman

To all,
I wanted to thank everyone who helped spread the word for the Walter Trout show @ the Southgate house.
Now that Jimmy Trapp has money in hand I can say "THANKS" for all the help you gave. We raised $1,375.00!!!!
Walter donated a brand new guitar that he autographed on stage for the lucky winner. By the way the winner drove 5 hrs up from Tennessee.

I want to personally thank all who donated items and helped make this happen CINCINNATI BLUES SOCIETY....for the hat's and T's (The band loved the T's so some of them will travel to Europe this month!  World wide advertisement!) RUF RECORD LABEL...for the CD's and DVD's. Richard for posting the poster on the web site Jeff Hannigan for the creative "force" behind the great posters Chris and staff @ the house, you all are great! I think the buzz of the crowd showed how hard you all worked

Thanks for all that supported and have always supported, you know who you are. And for the ones who didn't, I'll just have to work harder next year. Remember, "YOU" are the "conduit" to the masses for all their entertainment needs. And the blues fan look to you for that.

Oh Yeah!!! Breen , Brian & Rick....your support for this years bluesfest was fantastic!!!!!! Job exceptionally done!!!

THANKS EVERYONE,   Dean

LIVE video broadcast of Walter Trout and the Radicals recording "Ride Til I'm Satisfied" on the www.bluepower.com internet radio show

From: BluePower.com
By: John Rhys

A couple of years ago, BluePower finally managed to wrest Walter Trout and the band away from their busy schedule to come into Rotund Rascal Studios in North Hollywood to record half a dozen songs live to two track.

While they were doing this, Steve Altman shot the session with one camera so that we could preserve the moment for posterity.

Later, Steve took it upon himself to put together one song with the video. It took a great deal of finagling to get the DVD to come out right as utilizing only one camera, he had to pull shots from other sections of the video in order to piece together the song.

BluePower used the DVD in a contest in which over 5000 people entered to win one of four DVD's made.

Here is that DVD with all it's foibles. However; if you're a guitar player, there are some amazing shots of Walter and the fingerboard during the main solos. A must for any guitar player in the process of learning to play leads.

Walter Trout and the Radicals - gig of the year

Peter Feenstra - www.feenstra.co.uk  Independent promoter / PR Mystic Records / freelance writer writes...

I welcome the chance to suggest a personal top ten of both albums and gigs of only for the fact it represents one of the few opportunities to spotlight some of the artists who continue to tour and keep the live music scene alive.

GIGS OF THE YEAR

Walter Trout & The Radicals at The Mean Fiddler, London This show came three quarters of a way through a month long UK tour and both Walter and band were at their peak. Walter's biggest London crowd for over 5 years saw him play highlights from his 14 year solo career. Trout's playing exuded emotion, fire and shifted from low down blues to incendiary rock and roll. Highlights of a two hour set included Jericho Road" and the guitar/Hammond avalanche of "Put It Right Back On You". The two encores were fully deserved.
